Join us to learn about Inuit-led conservation initiatives in Labrador and Nunavut.

Dr. Jamie Snook (Torngat Secretariat) and Derrick Pottle (Knowledge Holder, Guide, and Polar Bear Specialist) will share their experiences with caribou and polar bear conservation. This will include Inuit-led co-management boards and community polar bear safety initiatives.

Lucassie Arragutainaq (Arctic Eider Society) and Joel Heath (Arctic Eider Society) will discuss the establishment of Qikiqtait IPCA and the Hunters Nautsituqtiit Pilot Program in Nunavut. They will also introduce SIKU: The Indigenous Knowledge Social Network. SIKU is a mobile app and web platform by and for Inuit. It provides tools and services for sharing hunting stories, ice safety, weather, and language preservation programs.

Lucassie and Joel will share how creating and using SIKU has helped them improve their resource management practices.
